After seeing you draw in class and going through your lessons it's clear that you've got true artistic potential inside of you; it simply needs to be unlocked and given the chance to develop. When you focus your intensity on your work, really cool stories and designs emerge in your compositions. I especially like your ability use tones and line work to create a bold representational drawing style, such as in the picture of the dog; then spontaneously riff into powerful street art flourishes. This skill would be very useful if you were to pursue a career in graphic design. So put on the iPod earphones, crank up the music, and keep busy drawing, Edgar!!!

Alejandro

Alejandro, when you get into the zone and start drawing, you're a VERY focused and intense sketcher!! With your quick eye for seeing shapes and proportions, you're able to look at things and create accurate sketches with your own artistic flair! You have a knack for sketching quickly and making corrections on top of your guidelines. And your strength in drawing is in your confident line work. I hope that you take time, in the years ahead, to develop your skills so that you can apply your drawing skills in everyday life.

Anthony

Anthony, you're an individual with all sorts of creative potential!!! Try taking time to focus your drawing skills as a starting point and you'll develop ways launch into years of enjoyment and discovery. As I sketched with you in class, I saw you improve in drawing with lines and shapes; then you started gaining confidence in seeing 3D form and sketching accurate proportions as shown in your colored pencil rendering of the apple. Drawing is a great tool for communicating your ideas which will be very useful in work and enjoyment. If you can, get a sketchbook and keep experimenting with drawing techniques. Gotta keep drawing, man!

Charles

This set of sketches is a big, BIG step in taking your skills to the next level of realistic drawing, Charles!!! You started loosening up, drawing large on the page and really looking for details. The drawing of the dog shows a lot of focused energy in improving your ability to draw accurate proportions. The sketch of the shell is particularly cool as it shows how you're starting to apply your observational skills to drawing from real life--really nice curved contour lines! Whenever you have a pencil and paper lying around, start doodling or copying from an interesting photo and see where your imagination will take you. Keep drawing!

Now, I know there's a brilliant imagination inside of your head, Brian!!! Through the course of 8 weeks you showed glimpses of strong creative potential in your drawing. You've got a bold drawing style that can be used to bring your ideas and feelings out onto paper. Take time to draw in a sketchbook and build your observational skills, just like you did in sketching realistic colors and contours of the apple. Turn drawing into a way of solving problems and showing your ideas to people. You've got the ability to develop very cool ideas (abstract and realistic), all you have to do is put that pencil to paper and let it fly!

Daniella

Daniella, a lot of times you were busy with other school work making it difficult to participate in drawing lessons. But I just have to tell you, straight up, you've got enough creative ability, wittiness, and confidence pursue a career based on drawing drawing skills such as graphic design or illustration. Your bold line work and eye for accurate proportions (like when you drew the dragonfly) make for a wonderful drawing style. I truly hope you start working in a sketchbook and include drawing in your lifestyle. :-)

Mystery Sketcher (no name on drawing)

I'm not sure whose drawing this is (Jamal, maybe?) but it shows a lot of skill in using contour lines to show the edges forming the dog. The proportions are very accurately drawn making for a realistic looking canine. Whoever drew this has GOT to keep drawing in the years to come!!!
