Weeks 1 & 2: Lines, Shapes, Proportions, Overlapping, Composition

Hello Community Day Sketchers! It was great drawing with all of you the past couple of weeks. We are off to an astounding start in drawing with lines and shapes. Everyone did a wonderful job of drawing large while maintaining accurate proportions and controlling your line work. Learning to draw while holding the pencil on its size was a challenge, but everyone pulled it together to create a lot of cool sketches! You also learned about creating a large-format composition.

Be sure to scroll all the way down to view your drawings. Some of you might have to click 'Older Posts' at bottom of this column to view your work.

Attention all sketchers, show your best drawings! Enter your work in our Online Student Show, opening May 7, 2010. Your drawings will be featured with students from other schools in the Drawing League Gallery. Choose 2 of your favorites, either from your lesson drawings or work you've created during your own time at school. One drawing is to be from observation (drawing things you're looking at) and the second drawing is to be from your imagination. For Details: Click here

Also, if you have drawings that you've done in your free time at school, give them to me and I'll post them in the eXpReSsiOn sEsSiOn. (All drawings must be approved by Mr. McDowell.) Here's a link to another school's eXpReSsiOn sEsSiOn: Click here
